Washer Not Draining in Greer: Common Causes and Fixes
A washer that leaves water in the drum is one of the most common laundry problems in Greer. Most of the time the cause is simple; sometimes the drain pump has failed.
1. Clogged pump filter (front loaders)
Most front loaders have a small filter behind a panel at the lower front. Socks, coins, hair ties and lint collect there. Put down towels and a shallow pan, unscrew the filter slowly, let the water drain, clear it and refit it firmly.
2. Kinked or blocked drain hose
Pull the washer out carefully and check the drain hose behind it for kinks or crushing. Also check where it enters the standpipe or sink; a blocked standpipe can back up.
3. Too much detergent
Excess suds slow draining and can trigger suds or drain codes. Greer's city water is fairly soft, which makes HE detergent foam more, so use the dose for the load size.
4. Failed drain pump
If the filter and hose are clear but the washer still will not drain, the pump may have failed. You may hear it hum without moving water, or hear nothing at all.
5. Lid or door lock issues
Some washers will not move to drain and spin unless the lid or door is confirmed locked.
